Have you ever had that feeling where you just dont like how your house or one part of your home looks and you wish you could just rip everything apart and get it right just like you see in design magazines or on TV, without having to pay an expert (even though its the best thing to do)?
I would love to say, get a couple of design and lifestyle magazine, tear out a couple of pages that interest you, go ahead to make a sample board etc. That already sounds so stressful, it might put you off.
These DIY tips will help transform any space you want.
- Color: i cannot over emphasize the importance of color. Generally people see color before they absorb anything else.People cannot process every object within view at one time. Therefore, color can be used as a tool to emphasize or De-emphasize areas. I promise to do a whole post on Color in the future. So if you have a drab wall, why not make it fab.
- Re-arrange your existing furniture: there is no rule to how your furniture should be placed, so go ahead toss them around, have fun. Eventually, its what you feel comfortable with.
- Introduce atmospheric light: i usually suggest free standing uplighters, the quick transformation is amazzzzzzing. Place them at strategic corners and see how your space gets an instant lift. In simple words, it makes a space POP especially at night.
- Mirrors: this is a design accessory you can NEVER go wrong with. They come in all shapes, colors and sizes and the best part now have varying designs to pick from. Mirrors help to enlarge a space especially if you have a small space, place them by a window, opposite a wall, above a couch, by the entrance hall. The options are endless.
- Change knobs and handles: if you had wood change to metal or anything fancy especially kitchen cupboards
- Throw pillows: Colorful throw pillows are a way to add life to your space. The neon and pink colors add life to the neutral walls. With throw pillows as a means to accessorize you can never go wrong.
- Work with anything you like. Any item, accessory, fabric anything. Dont forget to have fun while you at it.
- Finally: Vacuum, dust and clean. Your home will thank you for it.
Stay "fab".
